Before pursuing a career at the Bar, Liv studied Political Science at the University of Edinburgh and Sciences Po, Paris. She worked as a paralegal for 3 years, with a speciality in matrimonial finances and civil fraud. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Liv spent 2 years working in the NHS, at Croydon University Hospital.
Liv spent two years as legal assistant to King’s Counsel at Doughty Street, working mainly in extradition and criminal appeals. During this time, she worked on leading cases in both fields including in extradition: United States v Assange [2021] EWHC 3313 (Admin); Modi v India [2021] EWHC 2257 (Admin); and Popoviciu v Romania [2023] UKSC 39; and in criminal appeals: R (Paul Cleeland) v CCRC [2022] EWCA Civ 5.
During this time, she also contributed to UNICEF’s work in Myanmar, creating training materials for Burmese lawyers and drafting submissions to the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar.
Liv completed her Bar Course in 2025, following receipt of both the Bedingfield and Residential Scholarship from Gray’s Inn. During the Bar Course, Liv worked pro-bono for CAIWU, where she represented vulnerable clients in employment tribunal.
Most recently, Liv spent a year as a judicial assistant in the Court of Appeal, working with then Vice-President of the Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, Lord Justice Timothy Holroyde, and Lord Justice Lewis.
