18-year-old sentenced for possession of information likely to be of use to a person engaged in terrorism


On Friday 16 January 2026 at the Central Criminal Court, McKenzie Morgan was sentenced to 14 months detention in a Young Offenders Institution for possession of information likely to be of use to a person engaged in terrorism, contrary to section 58(1) of the Terrorism Act 2000.

An additional 12 months extended licence was added in accordance with S252A Sentencing Act 2000 as an offender of particular concern.

Morgan was also made the subject of a Criminal Behaviour Order for 3 years and will automatically be subject to notification requirements for 10 years in accordance with section 41-53 of the Terrorism Act 2008. 
 
McKenzie Morgan, was aged 17 at the time of the offending and had been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. He pleaded guilty at the first appearance before Westminster Magistrates’ Court in June 2025.
