Adam Kirke prosecuted Beyonce Lazarus, who pleaded guilty to offences of conspiracy to steal and fraud. Ms Lazarus, over a period of 4 years conspired with others, including those overseas, to fraudulently obtain the banking details of various unsuspecting victims. Whilst the true value of the fraud could not be established, the potential total cost to the banking industry was over £9m.
Ms Lazarus was also responsible in perpetuating the ‘Hi Mum’ scam whereby she would prey on parents, posing as their child, seeking to obtain a new phone.
Adam was instructed by the CPS pre-charge and was responsible for advising on appropriate charges. Ms Lazarus was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment suspended for 2 years.
