Andrew Judge prosecuted MS for offences of indecency with a child, rape of a child under 16 and child cruelty. These offences took place when the victim was between 6-14 in the 1990s and early 2000s. He was also prosected for making indecent images of children which were discovered when he was arrested in 2022.
MS had victim and her mother when she was 5 or 6. The Crown argued that MS had a sexual interest in the child and so ingratiated himself into the family. Over the years, MS took on a step-fatherly role to the victim and physically and sexually abused her for a number of years.
MS was unanimously convicted of 11 counts and was sentenced to a period of 15 years with an extended licence period of 5 years.
