On Tuesday 13 January at 6pm, DELF will host a symposium on Clause 195 of the Crime and Policing Bill 2025.
If you are new to the issues arising from Clause 195, you can view DELF’s briefing paper here. Clause 195 proposes significant amendments to s 20 and s 85 Extradition Act 2003 (the right to a re-trial following conviction in absence) and significantly weaken protections that have been in place since the inception of the Act.
Held at 9BR Chambers, the discussion will be led by DELF Chair Ben Joyes (9BR Chambers) and the co-authors of the DELF briefing paper, Rebecca Niblock (Kingsley Napley), James Stansfeld (Matrix Chambers) and Mary Westcott (Doughty Street Chambers).
This event aims to provide stakeholders with a forum to contribute to the dialogue on Clause 195.
