Ben Wild writes editorial for New Journal of European Criminal Law

Ben Wild was asked to write the editorial article for the New Journal of European Criminal Law, the leading international journal on European Criminal Law. Ben already provides quarterly updates to the NJECL on European Court of Human Rights cases with criminal law and procedure implications.

The editorial is about those updates and the ways in which criminal law and human rights intersect. It raises age-old examples of this intersection (e.g. police investigation powers versus right to privacy), but also explores some more modern trends such as automatic deportations following conviction, and country-specific issues such as the elimination of the right to trial by jury in England and Wales.
