Gary Summers acts for defendants in alleged kidnapping of diamond tycoon

Gary Summers acting for two defendants in the High Court in London as litigator and advocate in an alleged kidnapping of an Indian diamond tycoon organised by the Indian government and implemented by 5 individuals.

The complainant alleged he was lured to a co-Defendant’s apartment in Antigua in a ‘honey trap’ plot. Upon his arrival he was met by a group of individuals purporting to be work on behalf of the Indian government who allegedly blindfolded him. There he was beaten, tortured, kidnapped and transported to Dominica by boat and reportedly endured periods of unconsciousness.

He was arrested in Dominca for illegal entry to the country and returned back to Antigua. The complainant later made a claim for physical, psychological and financial harm in the UK Courts. It is alleged this all relates to an outstanding fraud allegation which the tycoon is accused of.

India denies any involvement and argued state immunity in addition to disputing the UK courts jurisdiction.

The case is heavily challenged by Gary’s clients.

Gary is raising state immunity; diplomatic immunity; jurisdiction (forum non conveniens) and strike out arguments on behalf of his clients.

The case in the High Court in London continues.

Gary is instructed privately.
