On 26 September 2026, at the Annual General Assembly of the International Criminal Court Bar Association (ICCBA), Jens Dieckmann, Associate Tenant at 9BR Chambers, was re-elected to the ICCBA Professional Standards Advisory Committee.
The Professional Standards Advisory Committee provides advice and guidance to ICCBA members on the Code of Conduct for Counsel. It may also offer advisory opinions when requested. The Committee therefore plays an important role in supporting the professional standards applicable to counsel practising before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Jens has a longstanding record of service to the ICCBA and in international criminal justice. In 2015/16, he was a member of the Drafters Committee and of the Interim Board of the ICCBA. He served as ICCBA Vice President for Victims in 2017/18 and 2018/19, and chaired the Victims Committee during both of those terms. He was also a member of the Executive Council from 2016 to 2019 and a member of the Victims Committee in 2023/24.
Since 2011, Jens has served as Court-appointed Common Legal Representative, Associate Counsel, for all victims in the ICC Banda case.
The ICCBA was established in July 2016, fulfilling a longstanding objective to create a representative association for legal practitioners working on matters relevant to List Counsel and Support Staff before the ICC. At the 18th Session of the Assembly of States Parties, the ICCBA was officially recognised as the sole representative body of counsel at the ICC in accordance with Rule 20(3) of the ICC Rules of Procedure and Evidence.
