Katie Mustard prosecuted a Household Cavalry soldier who received 12 years imprisonment for arranging to rape a 7 year old girl and a 10-month-old baby.
The Defendant entered into online conversations with a woman he believed was the mother of the children but was, in fact, an undercover police officer called ‘Kimberley’. In messages, he discussed sexual acts involving both children and discussed travelling from his barracks in Knightsbridge, London to Wales where the woman said she was based.
In passing sentence, the Judge told the Defendant: "You are a paedophile who intended to commit the most serious offences against defenceless and vulnerable children. I have no doubt whatsoever at the time you made these arrangements you believed the children, a seven-year-old girl and ten-month-old baby, were real. You wanted to meet them and when you did, with the assistance of the mother, you intended to rape them."
Katie was instructed by the CPS London - Crown Court South Central Team.
