Max Hardy, leading Alex Matthews prosecuted a multi-complainant sexual offences trial over the period of 5 weeks at Luton Crown Court.
The offending spanned three decades and seven complainants.
The jury convicted of five counts of indecent assault, six counts of sexual assault, three counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, and two counts of making indecent images of a child.
Extensive records pertaining to young people were reviewed in preparation for the case in a vast disclosure exercise leading to a seamless trial process. The defendant’s actions relating to another young girl were also adduced by way of bad character provisions.
Lawyer Paul Robson from the Crown Prosecution Service stated, at the conclusion of the case: “The strong testimonies of the victims were central to our case and to securing the defendant’s conviction.
Not only did these women come forward to report him, but they also showed great courage by giving their accounts in court, despite everything they had been through. As a result, the defendant will now serve time in prison for his crimes.
“We would like to thank the victims for their support through this process. We also recognise the outstanding work of the police, barristers, and other professionals who ensured justice was served.”
Max and Alex were instructed by Paul Robson of the CPS Thames Valley.
