Paul Quinn sentenced for the crimes Andrew Malkinson did not commit - Max Hardy represented Andrew Malkinson


Paul Quinn has been sentenced at Manchester Crown Court by Mr Justice Bright to an Extended Determinate Sentence of 21 years with a 3 year extension period. Paul Quinn was convicted after trial in April of rape, strangulation and grievous bodily harm following an attack on a woman in 2003.

In 2004 Andrew Malkinson was wrongly convicted in relation to that attack and was sentence to life imprisonment. He was released after over 17 years' imprisonment. 

Andrew Malkinson's wrongful conviction was quashed by the Court of Appeal in July 2023. He was represented by Max Hardy led by Edward Henry KC of Mountford Chambers and instructed by APPEAL.
