Emma-Louise Heath and Adam Kirke successfully represented the second and third defendants in a violent disorder and weapons case

Emma-Louise Heath represented the third defendant in a case involving charges of violent disorder and possession of a machete. Adam Kirke represented the second defendant, who was the brother of the third defendant, and who faced charges of violent disorder and possession of a crowbar.

The defence for both defendants in relation to the violent disorder charges was based on self-defence and defence of another. It was argued that they had been subjected to violent behaviour—including being attacked with glass bottles—by the first and fourth defendants on Ramsgate High Street after leaving a fast-food restaurant. The parties were previously unknown to each other.

The jury returned verdicts of not guilty on all charges for both Emma’s and Adam’s clients. The two remaining defendants were found guilty of violent disorder.
