Emma-Louise Heath successfully represented the lead defendant in a case involving allegations of violent disorder and assault on a police officer

Emma-Louise Heath represented the lead defendant in a case involving charges of violent disorder and assault on a police officer, arising from a football-related incident in Luton in 2022.

Under cross-examination, the officer accepted her fractured wrist was not caused by the defendant, but by a fellow on-duty officer who accidentally caused her to fall. She also accepted that she had reported this to another officer at the scene. The prosecution subsequently offered no evidence on the assault charge.

The defence in respect of the violent disorder proceeded on the basis of self-defence of another, that the defendant had intervened because he believed his brother was being assaulted.

The jury returned a verdict of not guilty.

Emma was instructed by Phillip Rooke of Noble Solicitors.
