Emma Scott represented a client accused of fraud by abuse of position whilst working at a high street bank.
Emma’s client was indicted with three counts of fraud by abuse of position totalling over £650,000 of money which he was alleged to have been involved in facilitating being taken from client accounts held at the bank. The Crown alleged that Emma’s client assisted with the fraud by enabling false identification to be used by others to gain access to high net worth individual’s bank accounts and enable others to take over these accounts.
At trial, the evidence from the bank’s fraud investigator and the Officer in the Case, was thoroughly tested and challenged, and the weaknesses in the case were exposed. The jury acquitted Emma’s client of all three counts.
Emma was instructed by Miles Herman of Lewis Nedas.
