Simon Ralph prosecutes ‘one of the most prolific sex offenders of all time’

Simon Ralph prosecutes Chao Xu for drugging and raping at least 13 women.

Chao Xu pleaded guilty to 24 counts of rape, assault by penetration, administering a substance with intent, and voyeurism. Over the course of several years he drugged and raped multiple unconscious women in his home, set up cameras to observe them performing private acts, and kept recordings of other forms of sexual violence on his phone for his own sexual gratification.

The judge when passing sentencing told Mr Xu that he had reached ‘the inevitable conclusion that you are an incredibly dangerous man’. He passed a life sentence with a minimum term of 14 years, reflecting the defendant’s guilty pleas.

The extent and range of the defendant’s behaviour is believed to make him one of the most prolific sex offenders in British history.

Simon was instructed by Suzanne Crane of the Crown Prosecution Service, and led by Catherine Farrelly KC of 5KBW.
